Episode 76: Ross Marshall

Ross Marshall's spiritual transformation was punctuated by two vehicular accidents, one was his fault and resulted in a well-deserved DUI, the other happened to him while obeying all the rules. This led to him questioning everything, taking a path toward suicide, and eventually getting therapy. He is now a certified transformational breathwork coach, a Reiki Master practitioner, shadow worker, medium, ecstatic dance facilitator, dog walker, and ordained minister. Episode #74: Patricia DeMarco 2

Author of "In The Footsteps of Rachel Carson" and "Pathways to Our Sustainable Future," Patricia DeMarco discusses her latest work on making her community and the planet a healthier place to live. She also discusses her upcoming book to be released later this year. Patty's spiritual journey from Catholicism to Pantheism was discussed at length in episode #3 and is summarized here as well. Much of what she has spearheaded in local communities is replicable in the U.S. and elsewhere, and she has brought it to the world stage at international conferences.

Episode 73: Kelly Brown

Kelly Brown, the owner of Inner Light on Beverly Road was born and raised in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She has been dedicated to spiritual endeavors her entire life. Her current interests include artwork, Qigong, Reiki, Sacred Geometry and sacred science teachings. She started dancing at the age of three and her history with dance permeates her paintings. Kelly lived abroad in Bordeaux, France for 15 years with her French husband, Olivier and her two daughters. Her artwork has been used in various TV series and featured on film sets for CBS and Netflix.

Episode 72: Louise Silk

Louise Silk is a Pittsburgh-based artist, writer, and quilter. For over forty years, she has been creating art that combines aesthetics and functionality with meanings and memories for family, friends, individuals, and organizations. In addition to creating exhibition-level artworks and running a zero-waste studio, Louise also joined forces with her daughter, Sarah Silk (see episode 67) at SilkDenim, a web-based shop selling one-of-a-kind, handcrafted 100% recycled clothing, bags, and quilts.

She began a career as a fiber artist by way of a 1972 article in MS Magazine. The gist of the article was that because men had no interest in quilt making, women were left on their own to explore, create and thrive in an open sharing community devoid of men. 

Years later, after perfecting her skills creating many quilts, she discovered a spiritual concept: Humans are co-creating with The Divine in each and every minute, day in and day out, in each thought and every action. With that element, whe understood quilting as her personal practice of holy divine engagement. That led to my book about quilting as a spiritual practice: The Quilting Path: A Guide to Spiritual Discovery through Fabric, Thread and Kabbalah. published by SkyLight Paths (c) 2006. Her second book, “A Patchwork Life: The Hands On Guide to Living Piece by Piece,” was published in 2020.

She continued for many more years making many more quilts until the death of her parents. To absorb that loss, she incorporated all of their clothing and textiles into her process creating family heirlooms that she holds dear to this day. Experiencing the healing potential of using meaningful textiles started her venture of making quilt products for others using their personal materials of memory.

Louise is being honored by Pittsburgh’s Heinz History Center in September of 2024 with a month-long exposition of her work.

Episode 71: Lance the Healer

Lance Queer is the author of the hilarious book, "Outdoor Adventures: True Tales from a White Collar Redneck." His journey to becoming an intuitive healer is loosely outlined in this memoir as he takes us through his many near death experiences and ski slope mishaps, synchronicities and miracles. His on-air personality is as joyful and disjointed as his writing and this interview will expose us all to a pretty wild ride. He is also a successful entrepreneur with a thriving business in Ligonier, PA. Enjoy! 

Episode 70: John Michael Thornton

John Michael Thornton began to awaken to his talents as a psychic in his early teens and trained as a psychic at the Natural Psychic School of Metaphysics at age 15, becoming its youngest graduate. He gave his first paid reading a few weeks later and has given readings every year since 1992. He has a long history with the A.R.E. (Association for Research and Enlightenment) spending 14 years at their camp, either as a camper or a counselor. As an adult, he has done numerous conference presentations. His parents met when his father was doing a presentation for the A.R.E. on a college campus and his future mother was the sole audience member.

Episode 69: Rev. Marjorie Rivera Kain

Rev. Marjorie Rivera (Chi Chi) Kain is a professional psychic medium who has been a full-time reader for 24 years. She leads message circles, lectures, and teaches. She has been a magazine columnist and radio talk show co-host for years and is also a published author. Chi Chi is a Lily Dale trained medium and she holds her ministerial and metaphysician's degree through Fellowship of the Spirit in Lily Dale, New York.

Episode 68: John Dye

John Dye is the Executive Director of Skylight.org which has a mission to help young adults live happier and more fulfilling lives through a personal relationship with God or any higher power that they can believe in. He also serves on the board of EyeCare4Kids, a non-profit that helps children receive much-needed eyeglasses and vision correction to help them succeed in school and in life. As a long-time social media consultant and participant, he has helped companies grow through media connections and he is enthusiastic about exploring the intersection between spiritual, mental, and physical well-being.

Episode 67: Sarah Silk

Sarah Silk is a Pittsburgh artist with a wide range of depth and experience. She is a movement teacher, primarily teaching the Feldenkrais method of somatic education, as well as a theater actor and a fiber artist. Her formal education includes a degree in Philosophy from the University of Chicago, an MFA in acting from Rutgers University, and comprehensive professional certifications in Pilates, yoga, myofascial release in the Barnes method, and Feldenkrais (see feldenkraispittsburgh.com).

Sarah has appeared many times on Pittsburgh theatrical stages to great reviews. As a sustainable artist, she collaborates with her mother Louise Silk, who is a prolific Pittsburgh artist. Together they created SilkDDenim over a decade ago, where they deconstruct used clothing by hand and re-make the recycled materials into individually crafte objects. She is also a member of the initiative known as the Rustbelt Fibershed, which is a bio regional textile community growing hope and resilience through local fiber, local color, and local labor.

Episode 65: Nicki Ojeda

Growing up in a restrictive Southern Baptist environment, Nicki Ojeda suppressed her psychic gifts for many years. At age 15 she met her mentor, working for her at an herbal shop that also sold Tarot cards, scented oils and other new age items. In this episode she discusses her Wiccan background, reincarnation and past lives, light workers, somatic practices, the I-Ching, Carl Jung and Plato. She also does a 3-card Tarot reading for your host. Her journey from her Southern Baptist roots to holistic witch is a fascinating one.

Episode 64: Don Young

Don Young was a successful pharmaceutical marketing executive when he became aware that he wasn't happy with the typical trappings of success. After spending his entire adult life pursuing happiness by acquiring stuff, he finally surrendered his heart to God. He credits the gospel music of Johnny Cash with his spiritual awakening. His journey includes running from God, hiding from God and his own gay identity to finally accepting the fact that he is a valued child of God worthy of love with a purpose of creating love in the world. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in history, religion, and philosophy and a Master of Arts Degree in Theology. Don is an Eagle Scout and a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and a Court Appointed Special Advocate for the Eighth District Judicial Court of Nevada.

Episode 63: Erin Sy

Erin Sy (pronounced See) was born in Manila to a Chinese-Filipino family. She grew up in New Jersey and then the Philippines, studied mathematics in Canada, and now lives in Pittsburgh with her spouse. She began her gender transition in 2017. She describes her life as a "crazy train ride of spirituality, martial arts, and love, with God as the conductor."

Episode 62: Ray Catania

Ray Catania is the author of two books: "The Atheist and the Afterlife: an Autobiography" (c) 2020 and "You Are Still Alive, Now Act Like It" (c) 2022. This second book "explores the science of spirituality." This interview describes his journey from atheism to becoming a clairvoyant medium. A journey filled with trauma, PTSD, death, denial, personal development, paranormal experiences, mediumship and triumph in his search for enlightenment. He has many lessons to share including the importance of letting your old self die so that a new you can emerge.

Episode 61: Anjali Soi

Anjali Soi is an evolutionary astrologer and certified mediator at Sun Conflict Solutions. She learned evolutionary astrology from Boulder-based Melody Scott Zindell in 2006 who learned directly from the founder of this paradigm, Jeffrey Wolf Green. Anjali has published an astrology coloring book and two books of poetry. She is an Indian classical and folk dance artist in the Pittsburgh area. She has also developed creative conflict resolution curriculums for youth.

Episode 60: Huenu Solsona

Huenu Solsona, the founder behind Orykl, a pioneering online marketplace that connects vetted channelers to individuals seeking spiritual direction, has over 20 years of entrepreneurial experience across diverse industries. She is a conscious explorer committed to making a positive impact in the world. Fluent in four languages and an ex-helicopter pilot, Huenu has a unique set of skills and experiences. The death of her brother in a plane crash in 2009 led her to follow a spiritual path that included enlightening experiences with channelers and an automatic writing experience that led her to the founding of Orykl. In this episode she helps us differentiate among psychics, mediums and channelers (both trance channelers and conscious channelers) and she explains her process of vetting channelers for Orykl.

Episode 59: Jason Madison

Jason Madison is the son of Sharyn Madison (episode #5) and a voice for all those who suffer from Hunter's Syndrome. He serves on the board of directors for the national MPS Society and often speaks for those who are not able to speak for themselves because their symptoms are worse than his and have robbed them of the ability to speak. As someone who has frequently faced death, he has an appreciation for life and a sense of gratitude for the little everyday miracles of life.

Episode 58: Mike Glaspie

Mike G. has been given a diagnosis of 4-5 years left of life on this planet before he dies from Alzheimer's. He has also been given a prison sentence of 72 months for fraud. His book, "I Talked to God: Amazing True Stories of an Ordinary Man," contains 6 stories that convinced him of God's presence in his life and he shares those with us to reassure us that God is with us all.

Episode 57: Chris Maguren

Kicking off season 5 of Your Spiritual Journey, Maori Chris Maguren, Dr. Bob's son-in-law, explains many of the Maori spiritual rituals that date back centuries in Aotearoa ("the long white cloud" or New Zealand). We gain an understanding of the welcoming ceremony "powhiri," the tribe "iwi," and the "kapa haka" - ceremonial song, dance and chanting (think Ted Lasso's victory dance). Chris discusses his "iwi" and their "marae" (meeting grounds) and their "wharenui" (meeting house) with a structure that represents the "amo" (the body of their primordal ancestor).
